Hovis, you booking it on Thursday then? Did you decide about whether to have a dorm or separate rooms? As I said before I don't mind either - I spose in order to keep the banter up it would be fun to all be in a dorm (that's supposed to read better than it does!)

Thoughts please on routes (2nd day - Loft to B&B)

Unfortunately the better roads in Belgium are located in the Ardennes region in the south of the country. I had originally intended to avoid motorways at all cost but am beginning to believe we will be better off using the motorway to get south then having more time to play on the better roads.

I had originally planned a route avoiding the motorways completely, however, this involved a very long day in the saddle, alot of which would be on the busier, less interesting northern roads.

Sacrificing the first two hours to the motorway will get us to the Ardennes. I propose taking the motorway from Ostend, past Brussels, then E411 to J22. Tim in Belgium has given me some tips for good roads in the area where we can then spend the rest of the day before heading to the B&B. This is also near to Bastogne which is the main centre for Battle of Bulge memorials etc, which some of you have expressed an interest in seeing.

We will unfortunately have to hit the motorway at some stage again on the trip back to Dunkerque, however, the Monday will be spent with Neil who I expect will guide us to and from the ring on some of the areas finest roads

I just wanted to open up the use of motorways issue to public opinion - whilst I hate them myself, I think this is the better option here - what do you guys think?

I trust your opinion DMC as i am sure you have studied the routes and roads well and have made and educated decision as to which way to go will be best. I certainly won't kick up a fuss at a bit of motorway riding, especially if it leads to amazing roads and dramatic scenery etc.

As mentioned i'm up for Bastogne, however i know from riding to Caen from London in 1 sitting - i was winging like a baby afterwards! My hands were Friggin' killing. Mostly due to the 3/4 hours on the freeway. Am i the only wuss out there that needs a break every hour or so?
