My wife bought me a Haynes radio advent calendar. Actually got some music through it today.

Quite possibly. All of the tuning and stuff is handle by the big chip in the middle.

Ah right. I ended up watching a you tube video at lunchtime on how to build a crystal radio. His way of an earth was really good. Use the earth in the houses' electrical circuit

The train line from Marylebone to Oxford is now finally open - yipee. It means I can get on the train in Wycombe and go direct to Oxford (if I wanted) instead of using the awful park and Ride (40 minute bus ride as it doubles as a local bus and can be hailed from EVERY stop) or the train via a change at Banbury (much longer). It means I can look for contracts in Oxford centre now so I'm quite pleased. Tried out the new service yesterday and found a sign outside a cafe just round the corner from the station. Very silly...
