Default Well this ain't happening

I've just won an ebay bid and have to pick the 'prize up tomorrow' and asked for the guy's address... Bearing in mind he wants me to turn up with cash, the response below is what he's told me, he also hasn't given me his name at any point... I think I might be giving this a miss.

Hello post code ph31dh auchterarder..If you go to the bank of Scotland car park at rear of bank and give me a call I will meet you there as house next to bank ..mobile no 077**93*64...will you collect am or pm ..thanks...

Shh, the forum doesn't need to know I'm buying a scooter...

But yes it is... and yes I am folks... maybe.

I've checked the Scooter itself its never been written off its taxed and MOT'd but i sure ain'y turning up to a car-park at the back of a bank with cash in hand. I'm going to message him and say, I'm not doing that... Home address or I walk and he can try to give me a bad review.

I was gonna say to the guy that I'd happily meet him 1/2 mile down the road at the police station... Still trying to word a message to him saying NAW I'm not meeting you at a random spot.

We've had people doing these sorts of deals on car parks at work.
"Meet me in the car park with a wodge of cash"

Usually we find out after the poor victim has been fleeced with no good to show. I think one also got beaten up in to the bargain.

I'd have a word with the police before saying anything to him. They might like to meet the chap.

Very wise - I've had one occasion to refuse a purchase on email but I just worded the reply to say I wasn't comfortable with the deal and would like to walk away from it with no hard feelings, the vendor was fine about it and no negative feedback was given either way

It's interesting you are all looking at this from the buyers point of view, how about considering the other side of the story. How many of you would want to give your home address out to someone you've "met" on the internet? Indeed the standard advice given to anyone selling something particularly valuable is not to do so but to arrange a meet with the prospective buyer somewhere neutral and then if they turn up and look genuine take them to your address to complete the deal, because as has been pointed out most buyers also need to know that you're for real.

Sounds like this chap is taking reasonable precautions. If you worried take a mate with you or leave the cash in your car whilst you make the initial meet.
Alternatively meet in the cafe over the road where there are likely to be a few more people about, or even in the bank itself where there is CCTV.

Oh I understand it from both sides.

Thing that really got me was I could pay for it through eBay and not carry money but he wanted cash in hand.

I've cancelled the whole thing and it appears as if there's no hard feelings from the seller because I sent him an email.

Hey ho. There were a few people bidding for it so hopefully someone gets it sold for a decent price (more than I got it for)
