GSX 1400 if you're in that sort of a mood and want to stick with the big S.

Really, it probably depends how serious you are about your touring compared to being able to let it off the chain. Big sports-tourers is a fairly crowded market, so its almost certain that there is something that'll tickle your fancy and tick the right boxes.

Ask Amarko about the Bandit, Or ...
Restrict the gixxer, fit bar risers & peg lowerers - job jobbed.
You don't want anything with real character, you shrinking violet.

Well I love my VFR and it's a great two up bike. However throwover panniers are a no-no with the exhausts where they are and the hard luggage is bally expensive! (Although Honda was giving hard luggage away with new VFRs last year, so plenty out there with it 'as standard'). VFRs are not cheap second hand either, so it may price itself out of the equation!

Both the Bandit 1250 GT and ST1050 come with luggage as standard, so probably represent better value. I love the sound of the ST to, have been casting an eye in that direction myself! The Bandit 1250 should not be overlooked, big comfy saddle, loads of room and fast as a very fast thing on speed! Keeping up with Amarko was a challenge on the VFR, even with the Maxton suspendies - on an open road there was 'no substitute for cubes' and he could bugger off at a rate of knots!

I would say ride them all with Mandy pillion and decide which suits you best, then see if you can do a deal.

PS If you want a try of the VFR next time we meet, just ask.

whilst the bandit 1250 is very good value, I had one for a mouth as a loan bike, lovely engine and gearbox, comfy the works, but one thing stopped me from ever owning one.....

Every single bump in the road reminded me of the budget suspension, if they had only spent £500 more on it, it would have been an out standing machine IMHO.

Don't overlook the older 955i sprint either, some prefer it to the new one, a very accomplished bike.

Cheers Mark.

Cool Re: which new bike?

Oh Quiff, we're all getting older. Have you looked at the HD StreetGlide?
