Default Fork Springs

Changed the fork springs for some Ohlins and thicker fork oil at the weekend.
Was a little worried that I would not notice a great difference. WRONG.
The front end of the bike has been transformed, seriously. The bike feels SOO much more stable and tips into corners much quicker than before.
All I can say is that if you have not changed your fork springs yet, DO IT NOW.

Then don't bother!

Its not a case of needing them changing it improves the front end handling.

Yep, the SV has one or two faults , but its front forks are its major problem imo.
I meant to get around to doing this sometime ago, and wish I had.
For such a cheap, and relatively easy mod, it really does transform the bike.

Yeah I'd be interested in knowing this too...and where best to go shopping!

I've added a new can and some steel brakelines...much happier...but I know I should really have a gander at the forks...

Springs - anything from £55 - £90 depending on brand.

I've just put Hagon's in mine, with 15w oil.
Yet to test it on the road, but the front end feels a lot stiffer and more "progressive." Then again, I'd want it that way with thicker fork oil and progressive springs...

The oil should be about £5 - £10 depending on brand again. Hagon's, for example, is £7.50 for a 1litre bottle.

I put Hagon's and 15w oil in last saturday - difference is amazing. Total cost was Springs+oil+postage £62.50! Quite easy to do.

I got Ohlins springs and 15w oil for about £80 delivered.
The job is not too difficult, best to use a Haynes manual or something similar and just take your time if you don't have much experience.
Or, a local garage would probably do it for about £60.
Does make a difference though.
