Default Newbie but oldie! Bought a Gladius.

Hello all.

I'm a 50+ guy who was away form bikes for a few years, but I bought a Gladius yesterday.

It's pretty good overall I think. Low miles/owners and has been looked after. Rides well and the engine is torquey and smooth. I'll give it a decent service and a good clean first up. It's got a few mods and I'll keep a couple of them - an IXIL slip on can, and renthal bars. It sounds good and the riding position seems fine.

I'd prefer standard levers though, and bar ends, and there's a tail tidy and lcd light on the back, and again I'd prefer standard.

Where's the best place for parts? Tidy used stuff would be fine as the bike is 10 years old. Are the levers interchangeable with other Suzukis?

Any suggestions welcome. Would anyone do a swap + cash?

Thanks.

As we are a UK based website, I doubt buying stuff from the states would suit most.

Hello RS2K, welcome. Where are you based?
Ebay is a good option though.

Hallo RS2K, welcome to the forum.

Fowlers and Robinsons Foundry here on this side of the Irish Sea are good for new bits, with ebay or the for sale section of this forum being your best bet for used parts.

When I bent a lever bought a pattern job off ebay - no noticeable difference to the original

Nothing wrong with Gladius although people are dismissive of the styling. It has pretty much everything that the later AL7 has including twin sparks, and SCEM ( aka Nicosil style) cylinder liners, well sorted fuel injection and pretty good handling - and a decent riding position for a lot of people who don't like to lie down on a bike.... enjoy it !

The Gladius was picked as one of FortNine's best uses motorcycles to buy. Worth a watch (as is the rest of the channel!)
