seems a pretty clever idea, perhaps with more development it could indeed prove to be a lifesaver. stops some of your body from smashing into the ground so quickly perhaps

There was a demo of a collar-only one a while back, looked pretty impressive but they couldn't make it go off reliably if memory serves.

That does seem like a good idea.

Would be mighty inconvenient if it went off in a shopping centre beacuse someone bumped you though.

I do believe one of the 250 GP riders was wearing one on the last race of the season. He also had the misfortune to test it out. Seemed to work very well indeed.
