Mine was plated in 2010, still got it in there.

Considered removal but for the sake of a further 6weeks off the bike and arm in sling and lose all the nerve regrowth again I've left it

Had no choice on mine, as it was poking in to some nerves they couldn't leave it.

It does leave a nice scar and he can freak purple out with the plate and screws by fiddling with it

Shattered my collarbone in a highside in 2008.
They just put my arm in a sling for a few months.
Doctor said, " there's nothing to put a plate in."
Amazingly it grew back but is roughly twice the diameter of the other one.


I'm sure your son will heal up much quicker.
Hope he is feeling better soon!
