Default Custom Bikes

As a follow on from the best looking bike thread and Mr Squids reference to the Confederate Wraith (nice bike by the way). I was wondering about the other custom bike makers. Here's one I like. He's from this side of the pond as well. The bikes are really "clean" in design. No cables or clutch levers, but some real nicely engineered solutions to making them work. Twist clutch with internal cable routing etc.

Anyone else got a fave?

to be honest, the point of a bike, is to be ridden.

if you cant do that very well, then there aint much point.

as arty and creative as i may be (being a designer and everything)
when it comes to bikes, i prefer function over form.

I really like that green one... Just a bit too daft, but you could do the same without impairing function so much.

It's all very well to make a clutter-free bike, but not when you sacrifice little details like the front brake, or a clutch that a normal human being can use, to do it. The ones that truly impress me manage to look fantastic without compromising the design to that extent. There's one guy whose work is like this- every bike is designed to be ridden, to the extent that he put over 10,000 miles on his most famous bike, riding it across America to shows and taking home prizes. But I forget his name. No doubt there's many others like him of course.

But they are crap.

Catches the eye and all that, look beautiful even maybe, but oh so boring to ride. Drive down the highway on it. Find a really big roundabout to turn round on and then ride it back down the highway.

Not for me I'm afraid
