My renewal quote went up by 50% this year, but after a phone call I got it back down to last year's level. Similar story on the wife's car.

Was covered in more depth in a recent post about insurance but the trimmed down version is:

The Ogden rate was 2.5% discount it's now a -0.75% additional.

This change had significantly increased all rates for providers that have to deal with personal injury to account for the massive increase.

Now that may not sound a lot but that rate is applied to "proper" PI claims, not your run of the mill BS whiplash etc. Like actual life altering ones. As an example a claim which could have been paid at c2-3m will likely now be closer to 8m

My car insurance has just rolled round - Quotemehappy.
Auto-renewal was £27.00 cheaper than last year.

Can't complain this time round.

Acid attacks, unprecedented bike thefts in London, stabbings, shootings, a Tory government that insists 30'000 less police is a good idea.

It all boils down to how people vote, and people are idiots.

My renewal was £30 cheaper than last year and £20 cheaper than even the same insurer offered as a new customer. They even threw in some kit cover and protected NCB which I didn't have. Miracles do happen.

http://www.motorcarinsuranceuk.co.uk...de-ratings.php

Here is the postcode database that UK insurers use for basic risk assessment - before they even look at your personal NCB and risks.

Postcodes with a * by them need motorbikes to be kept in secure garage.
