Default Shoei Raid 2

Hey there,

Just been looking at shoei helmets, cos Arai are a little out of my price range.

Found the "Raid 2" and am likiong the look, are they any good?

Price range is maxed at 200 pounds.

Cheers.

I used to have a Raid II - good lid, but for 200 notes you can get an XR-1000, which IMHO is a better lid again.

But usual advice goes ... get the best fitting one you can and if you have a £200 budget, I'd be tempted to go right up to the limit of it

I did a quick search and found an XR-1000 for £199.99 (RRP £240)

www.gear4bikers.co.uk have a few plain and graphic versions - some of the graphics ones you can get for that price, but the plain ones you certainly can, and I'm sure if you shop around you might be able to get them a little cheaper perhaps. Oh

I like the Raid II Sprite design tho but Shoei don't do that design on the XR-1000 (cue for someone to correct me now )

I have a Raid II Tribe - excellent lid IMO.

Vents are good and easy to open / close with gloved hands.

The clear visor that came with mine already had the pinlock pins fitted and there was a pinlock insert in the box too - has never misted up on me once. I've had some misting with my dark visor (no pinlock fitted) but there's a switch on the left side of the lid that clicks the visor open just a fraction, great for de-misting.

Overall a very comfy and practical lid. It got a RiDE recommendation too

In the end it'll come down to what fits you best cos that's the most important thing, but if a Raid II fits well, I'd happily recommend one.

Can get an Arai for £200 if that's what you want. Otherwise I like my Raid (one )

I had (have) a raid 2, fab comfy helmet, bit noisy though. Not worn it since I needed a new visor, and wasn't going to pay £40, so I bought a new lid instead. (mans logic, women dont understand)
