stiff/hard front brake

hello all.

noticed it the last few weeks hat the front brakes are starting to feel stiff when going to use them, they work fine just not as sharp as they use to be?

any ideas,

btw i have done about 4k on them now and not done nothing with them

If they're feeling a bit wooden they probably need a service.

Start with the really simple stuff, use a 10mm spanner, and a flat-head screwdriver to undo the front brake lever, clean it, the master cylinder, and the pivot up with a rag and some WD40, then lube with a little engine oil and re-assemble. Try not to use grease, dirt gets trapped in it and it ends up forming a grinding paste that wears stuff out.

See if that's helped, if not it's a caliper service.

I quite like PTFE dry lube for such use

right found it to be the bottom pistons that had stoped moving....

cleaned up greased and hoe it was that, failing that its new pad time
