4000 on a Conti attack rear is probably only half way through its life, they can last up to 9000 aparantly on a light bike like the SV .

however the tyre is lilley to square off long before the tread goes off

Noone actually think to ask how many miles he's planning on doing?!

If it's 3,000 miles or less I'd say you'll be fine.

Nah... I know where he's going

Ride to Germany, Laps of the Nurburgring then back again.

I'm probably being a wuss but thats not something I'd want to do on tyres that perhaps were passed their best.

If I was to go touring in Europe, regardless of distance, I'd get a new set of boots fitted, then scrub them in the day or so before I left.

On return, look to see if they're toasted. If they are, get my old boots back on again. The tyre place I use will look after my tyres for however long I like, 'cos they're nice like that.
