Default Corroding water pump cover.

Noticed a short while ago that my bike (K7S) is developing some rust:

Is there a way or removing this rust or helping prevent the spread? Have covered the bike in ACF50 (but was late applying last year and obviously have not applied enough)

Cheers
Dan

It,s zinc pest , salt reacting with the zinc in the alloy . One way to kill it is to use Vaseline !

spread it on and leave for a night , then wipe off .

If it,s bubbling under the paint work you need to wire brush that off and treat . Then when you,ve cleaned it paint with an appropriate paint .

I don't know to be honest , i know it works though !

It stops that white crusty crud appearing on all the alloy bits and fasteners , something to do with the petroleum inhibiting the zinc to stop it from seperating from the alloy when salt appears .

I have no idea, maybe my bike is just being petty.
Gna have to wait until after the winter to do anything like that Going to fully wash/scrub the bike when home for xmas then re apply the ACF50 and hope it doesnt get any worse.

Quite possibly. They do get in the way when cleaning. But it only really formed last year when i hadnt yet applied the ACF50 during the winter when the bike is parked by the coast (with the salty air ect) Bike is ridden all weather and all year and when am at uni is hard to give a proper clean
