Default Frain 2014 - Kit List

There seems to have been some FB discussion about kit, but it's been difficult to follow as the banter moves on at 25 posts an hour. I thought this way we can always just edit the first post - Of course most of it is down to personal choice.

We're not going to need Waterproofs Tom.
We're going to need some booze.

1. So if I get soaked riding down to Portsmouth I can blame you for the fact I have wet leathers for the next few days?

2. I'm confident that there will be no need to carry alcohol on the bikes...... There are people going who could sniff out beer in the Antarctic.

One tip I was given and use when touring is get some zip lock bags, in each one put a tshirt a pair of pants and a pair of socks. One package for each day (or every other day if you want to stink) This keeps them dry if your luggage leaks and seperates the clean stuff from the stinky dirty stuff. Also take those short trainer socks rather than thick full size ones.

Oh and don't count on it being dry, the worst conditions I have ever rode in were in Spain last year.

Breathalysers aren't a legal requirement for the record.

I did a fairly comprehensive list when we went to Normandy, I'll have to find it.

I'm taking some cooking stuff too.

Tom without our own booze, what do we drink when the bars close. Be prepared for the worst mate.

Awesome - glad this exists, very handy. Cheers tommy.

Just one thing to add (the thing on my mind!) TYRES!. Are we covering a couple of thousand miles at least? Even if they look good now they may well be cords in an inconvenient frainish village.

I got through a whole back tyre on my VFR in 3000 miles around Frain last year. Will be getting a brand new one fitted before I leave this time.
