Not my cakes on this occasion. The kids decorate cakes made by our chefs and they all wear gloves for hygiene reasons. The England women are there to assist with coaching but kept popping up in the cake room!

The Lydia Eva was one of the last of the steam drifters ever built. Almost all boats were made with diesel engines when this one launched but the owner believed in the old ways and specified steam. Based out of Great Yarmouth she fished for herring, starting the season in January off the Scottish coast and working her way south towards home following the Silver Darlings as they migrated. When the fleet was in port you could walk from north to south quay across the decks there were so many of them. The Lydia was used as a rescue boat by the RAF for decades once the fishing fleets downsized which saved her from the scrap yards and she now serves as a very interesting living museum. Still fitted with her original triple expansion engine the boilers are currently being repaired to enable her to sail under her own steam again. These boats have a special significance for me as my Great Grandfather worked them.

We were on board on Saturday (as oddly the rest of Yarmouth's museums are all shut on a Saturday) and the volunteers were happy to chat. The day before they'd filled the boilers with water ready for a test but, unfortunately, they started to leak from several places so the hoped-for return to steam this year after a refit is now unlikely. Fascinating old girl and well wort a visit.

Army v Navy v RAF matches at Lord's today. Time for a team photo - I have to yell at all of them to get themselves standing in the right place - I missed my vocation as a sergeant major.

Building the printer head for my 3d printer. Cooling fan, control board and nozzle in place. Holes are for temp sensor and heater element to go.
