Gear indicator - what one?
Hey guys, i always find that i loose what gear i in when i on the dual carrage way and always find myself going for a 7th gear or going down into a too low of gear.
I just wanted a simple plug and play indicator but which one is best? Seen a gipro which looks good but dunno if it fits an sv? |

Re: Gear indicator - what one?
i'm always hunting for 7th. apart from that the gear your in does not matter as if it feels right it is right. something telling you your in third going into a corner is pretty useless and just a distraction.
now if there was a way to indicate you are in 6th with just a small lamp lit then that would be of use. goes to hunt web.......... |

Re: Gear indicator - what one?
You only need to know when you're in one of three gear positions
A) Neutral B) The right gear C) The wrong gear You can find all of these without wasting money on a useless gadget that will distract you from the road. |

Bibio, could you start working on a bluetooth enabled visor heads-up display with gear indicator, radar and safety camera alert system please?

Re: Gear indicator - what one?
i'll look into it and i seem to remember i have a circuit diagram somewhere and discussed this before.
well i did study embedded computer systems at uni so an OLED screen bonded to a visor would be the way to go but i think Stark Industry's would have something to say about it |

Re: Gear indicator - what one?
My SV came with the GiPro one fitted. Folks told me I should remove or cover it as it would be distracting.
I found the distraction was short lived as the novelty wears off quick. I find it useful, like you've already mentioned, so I dont go looking for seventh gear. It's also useful when coming to a halt to know how many taps the gear lever needs without feeling for it going solid or waching for the neutral light. I still rely on the neutral light though as it has been confused and showed "0" when in gear. |

Re: Gear indicator - what one?
I don't seem to have a problem knowing how many gears to go down when coming to a stop, be it from 6th, 4th, or whatever. But I do try to click in 7th gear unless I look down and see 84mph, 6500RPM, think, think, OK, in top gear already.
