Bandit neutral light problem.
Just a quick query, helping a friend with a 2003 bandit 600 and neutral light intermittent at best, more off than on. Any thoughts most welcome, have traced wiring back to connector that appears good with no corrosion and taken switch out and cleaned to no avail.
Thanks |

Bandit advice?
Take the wire off the switch and connect it firmly to a good neutral, use a piece of wire under an engine case bolt if necessary, is the neutral light on? If yes, start wiggling all the wiring and connectors you can find including the bulb holder until you can make it go off. If you can't make it stop working like that, then test the switch by connecting a meter or test bulb between the neutral switch contact and the battery live, in neutral the meter should indicate battery voltage or the test bulb light, wiggle the gear lever without going as far as changing gear, does the meter reading alter/bulb flicker or go out? If yes the problem is with the switch and/or the selector drum contact.

Re: Bandit neutral light problem.
Hello and thanks for the replies, Just a query Sid, is the switch not a ground to activate the neutral light, I.E in neutral the supply earths bringing on the neutral Light? Only 1 wire (blue) running to switch? Have read a thread on the Bandit forum showing how to remove switch and clean so will also be doing that, seems a fairly common issue.

Bandit neutral light problem.
The 'switch' isn't really a switch as such, in neutral the wire is touched onto a sprung contact on the selector drum. The neutral bulb is constantly lived and is thus operated by switching the neutral.

Re: Bandit neutral light problem.
UPDATE...
Removed and cleaned switch and contact pin and all looked good, earthed blue wire in connector and neutral light came on but still not working when reassembled. Have ordered new switch as fault appears to lie there, but any comments welcome? Thanks |
