Which exhaust can, where to cut? Curvy.
Hi guys
So the BMF is coming up next weekend and im heading up there to buy a new exhaust. Unsure on the brand atm. Anyway, I was looking over the whole exhaust system today, and im abit confused. To me it seems like I couldnt just buy an end can and be done with it... I need to buy the can with that large exhahst link pipe. Cant explain it. Basically how would i swap my 2000 s exhaust (standard) for a new can. Is it a simple swap or any cutting involved?? The link pipe isnt a simple pipe, it goes into the back of the engine. Im at a total loss??? |

Re: aftermarket exhaust swap?
What bike? If it's an SV650 then you need to cut the original.

Re: aftermarket exhaust swap?
You need to cut the pipe, and then reconnect it with the link pipe supplied with the end can, if it needs one.
The link pipe is sometimes needed to get the correct angle for the new exhaust hanger, or if the end can has a different diameter connecting pipe

Re: aftermarket exhaust swap?
You'll cut the OEM exhaust somewhere between the pillion footrest and the riders footrest usually

Re: aftermarket exhaust swap?
Okay i think ill need to get some tools in hahs.
Can you recommend any exhausts that are not to expensive to buy new, and are nit ti loud? The link pipes that come with the end cans, do they slip straight on or are some a different size? |

Re: aftermarket exhaust swap?
I think its usually 50mm further back than the weld you can see before the end can.
This may vary depending on brand, mines a beowulf if that helps |

Fuel cans are well made and quiet. I've got one They were giving the Org discount on cans Also you could give them a call to see if they have any seconds, with slight manufacturing faults but beowolf also make nice cans

Re: aftermarket exhaust swap?
A Fuel can was a good contender, i have to admit. Its either do this at a small cost, or go all out and buy a full system

Re: aftermarket exhaust swap?
I guess youll just have to ask yourself if the cost of a full system is worth the money for the amount of gain you get. I decided on a slip on as its only for road use for abit of a tastier sound haha.
Anyone know how big the performance benefits are for a full system? M4 etc? |
