ps a bit tongue in cheek .

Keeps the exhaust clear of the single sided swingarm to show it off and keep it all open at the side. The later models don't and it's a sore point for owners. I generally like under seat exhausts except for the fact they put the weight higher up. I never carry pillions either. I make sure I don't have insurance for it. My riding is purely selfish "me time".

Me too. I owned a Honda 919 in the US (900 Hornet everywhere else) and a 2012 foxeye Street Triple, both with high exhausts.

I suppose for honesty's sake I should add this note: on the 919 forum there was an endless debate about "the stink", where a few people complained about exhaust fumes. I had a California (CA) spec 919 which had a different ECU and extra smog gear compared to the 49 state model. Was the CA bike cleaner, was rider size a factor (larger rider causes more eddying of the airflow), was the CA fuel cleaner, was CAs climate a factor, I fitted a flyscreen was that it? - no answer was found. I never experienced it although my 919 did run very rich when cold.
The UK Hornet was similar to the 49 state US model, the German Hornet was similar to the CA model (the forum investigated this endlessly ).

Which is just as it should be... a motorbike is too personal to carry passengers. I used to give a bloke a lift home from college ( many years ago ) but he would not lean over on corners which played havoc with handling - he didn't get a lift very often

I have insurance to carry a passenger but never do now, my son used to like to ride on the back when he was younger, but you never know whether some 'biker babe ' might want a lift ( you can hope anyway)!
