Silence would be nice sometime. The hiss of tinnitus prevents this though.

Having had similar issues in my student house many years ago...

We had a house with no proper earth and a live-earth fault so basically everything was at 240V. Radiators, the tap water, everything. Washing up in bare feet was a bad idea. Also made my guitar amp hum a lot.

Metal case should be earthed unless it's double insulated. Unless you've got really dodgy wiring

You could also have a ground loop. Try plugging all your audio devices into adapters that terminate at the same socket and see if it goes away. You can lift earths to prevent the loop as long as it's still grounded via the other direction.

Also make sure your guitar strings are earthed. Several musicians have gone out in a blaze of glory from this mistake.

house wiring is perfecto, new consumer unit and tested last year.

its a 2 box headphone amp. 1 box powersupply 2nd box is diy headphone amp with a raspberry pi as a music streamer. i can float the headphone amp side without danger.

I've had better commutes home, thanks for asking. Tonight's was almost fatal, for the fukktard yoof in his black hoodie and black jeans, in the dark with his massive headphones isolating him from everything around him. The two-hat walked straight out in front of me from behind a parked van without the vaugest of glances in either direction. I still don't know how I missed him or how the car behind avoided me. Just saunterred on as if nothing had happened leaving me with a "slightly " elevated heart rate...

Hope the rest of you had s better day.
