Already signed this a few days ago.
Agree with the principle, especially in places like bromley and lewisham where there is 3/4 mile of buslane, on a curved road you can't see well enough to filter down without danger.

Pet hate of mine are the short sections of bus lane where you're suddenly not allowed to use it, and it's empty. You have to have eagle eyes on the signs and frankly I've got more important things to observe in rush hour traffic.

Been trialed and tested in London years ago.
MAG are great advocators of bikes in bus lanes and the trials proved that it lead to a reduction in pedestrian, bicycle and motorcycle incidents.
Everyone now knows this, but it seems that politicians are not clever enough to link policy to evidence, relying rather on knee-jerk reactions.
Now there's a thought, maybe we should vote in those who are capable of reasoning based on evidence. More chance of sh*tting in the Queen's handbag methinks!! You vote them in my friends!

It's London that I was talking about. You can use *most* of the bus lanes but you've still gotta watch for the ones you can't. There's no general rule - it's down to the sign next to the bus lane, some of which change every 50 yards.

I seem to recall that the ones on my journey through London allow bikes in them if they are a red route, and don't allow bikes if they are not, but I'm not sure if this is still relevant - as Ophic says you have to keep a close eye on the signs to be safe as they change!

Best thing is that a lot of the car drivers on my route home dont' realise the bus lane restriction ends at 7pm, and so the lane's nice and (largely) empty for me on the toddle home!

You're right. It's stupid to designate some bus lanes and not others. Confusion all round. Motorbikes should be allowed to use bus lanes, end of.

We can use bus lanes here in Bristol. It's a big factor in my decision to commute on two wheels all year round.

It works very well and I'm surprised more cities haven't looked at its success here and followed suit.
