Engine Rattle

Hi folks need some help please.......

I took my sv650s k2 out last week on a pretty fast ride out through rye and camber.
On the way home I thrashed her a bit to thepoint where I could hear a tapping noise through my helmet.
I got her home stripped the fairings off and cleaned her up underneath to check for any leaks or loose fittings etc.
At this point I noticed there was practically no oil left in her.
I put 2 litres in and fired her up.............the noise was still there.
Ive had a listen and tried to locate the noise but cant isolate it.
I have ridden her to a couple of workshops in medway one of which told me they thought it was coming from the rear of the engine.
There is no smoke, no oil contamination on the plugs, no leaks Im confused.
Any ideas.

Ooo, running it dry with oil isnt gonna help. however, ticking/rattling nose could also be the Cam tensioners. These rattle as a matter of course.

Id keep a very close eye on it, check your oil level every day and make sure it dont run low. If it gets worse, then get it to a shop and pay the mechanic an arm and a leg to check it out.

cheers mate ............we were a group of 7 from thelondonbikers on a ride out, up and down the gears through the lanes, one point was 130mph rest was average 90mph.
Was a bit of chase trying to keep with the r1s.
Though the damage was done on the last 2 miles home where I was dicing with a 3 series bmw.
