Default SV650 model numbers?

Hi all,

I can't seem to find any sort of thread here on what all the model numbers mean? K3, K6 etc.

Is there a simple explanation of the differences? And perhaps what years they all came in?

I have sort of gathered that 'curvys' are the older bikes with rounded lenses and the 'pointys' are the newer style ones?

Thanks

Seb

There is a thread re the model numbers - keep searching! Basically K6 = 2006. After K9 (2009) the K changed to L. I think pre 2000 there was X an Y? also wiki and the front page of the org has a model history.

While it's not exhaustive there's a section in the FAQ on the main site which runs through most of the changes

Cheers, found it all! Doesn't seem like many changes from almost 2004 onwards really.

There are enough changes from 2004 - 2013 to keep you on your toes, ECU, wiring, duel spark head, part colors etc, but I'd say in terms of choosing a bike they'd look and feel about the same. Changes have been cosmetic (black frame, and later black fork lowers) or to satisfy emissions regs. Performance, reliability etc should be about the same.
