Default Ball Park Cost

Hello Org.

I have finally gotten around to sorting out my bike insurance after my off.
Basically they have written the GSXR off. And given me two options.

Option 1 - Give me more money than I bought it for, even though I told them what I'd paid. Yeah I was a little surprised too.
Option 2 - Give me £1200.00 less and let me keep it.

Now I'm torn. On paper it's obvious. Take the money and run.
However, if i do this option there is a chance I will never get another bike. My missus isn't very keen on the idea, and to be honest I'm not ready yet either.
Getting disfigured makes you question what you once loved. Plus I just don't think my shoulder will let me yet.

Or do I keep the bike and go naked - getting the plastics are what has written it off. They just don't exist.

So the point of this thread, as I am a clueless halfwit what ball park cost do you more enlightened peeps think going naked will cost.
Plus I'm thinking my shoulder might prefer a more sit up position now.

Light - plus mounting
Indicators
Clocks - not sure what type would be a good idea.
Cowl to cover the potential fuglyness.
New top triple clamp
Riser bar
Cables?

What other things have I missed?

Or please suggest more practical bike suggestions, as the GSXR is a bit of a hooligan.
And yeah I am already looking at an SV again.

I would look at option 1 and see what else you can get for the money, which should then help you consider if route 2 is the best option or not. Bear in mind with Covid tax 2nd hand bike prices are high currently, so if you're not in a rush you could sit on the money for a few months and snap up something you like when it appears.

Looking at the list of parts, i'd get on ebay to check the costs of 2nd hand and see the total bill.If its more than 75% of the £1200, i'd not bother as there could be other bits you need to find as you remove the broken stuff.

What sort of practicality do you need? Do you need something only for commuting and then a bit of fun, or more fun but is capable of commuting?

I don't actually need a bike anymore - I've bought a second car since the off.
I have never had any time at the weekends for riding for fun, family life is all consuming, my bike has only ever been to commute.
But I'd potentially like something for the long summer days. And then climb back in my cage when the weather is ****.

Difficult to know new bike suggestions unless we know what budget you have. I'd also echo the point that second hand bike prices have gone crazy. I'm seeing bikes I've sold in the last couple of years for under £2000 going for £3500 to £4000 now.

Sorry about the situation, hope you're mending.
Without knowing what bike it is, the likely value if a runner, emotional attachment etc, I'm certainly tending towards what others say and take the money, draw a line under it.
With any sort of physical impairment, recovering injury or discomfort etc, the easiest bikes to get on with will always be a sit-up-and-beg type, either a naked traditional style or a sport/tourer type. Also from what certain friends have said and done simply due to getting older and less strong, weight is going to be a really important factor. There are plenty of light upright modern middle-weight bikes which are truly excellent machines, from CB500 to Tracers etc.

I did think prices on Autotrader looked quite steep.
Budget, not a lot having just spent £6000 on a Corsa. (Long term plan to give to my eldest in a few years time)

It's looking like I'll get rid and think about another bike when the time comes.

If you're not desperate for another bike right now I'd wait for prices to calm down and get something next winter. Something more Street Triple, MT09 or similar might suit your use better?

If you get rid you could reappraise how the shoulder feels in a few months. B I L broke his skiing ( Or should I say 'falling whilst skiing' ) Had it plated but then requested plate be removed, -( he was told falling again could make a mess of it). Took 12 mnths or so but he's pretty good now putting up new ceilings ok and doing other non essential projects.
