Left rear indicator issue
Well folks,
I have an 05 SV650. Rear left indicator does not work. Front left flashes quickly as if a bulb is gone but both are still in tacked. Both right indicators are working fine. Any ideas? Oh for information the indicator switch pflicking it right is easy, flicking it left requires a bit more force of helps. Thanks in advance Last edited by Lordspectre; 11-04-21 at 11:15 AM. |

Re: Left rear indicator issue
Use a multimeter and see if you're getting current to the indicator that isn't working. That should then point you n the next direction of problem solving.

Re: Left rear indicator issue
A broken bulb filament can still appear intact - do an electrical check on bulb filament, or swap front and rear bulb and see if same indicator still not working.
The same relay flashes both indicators, the handlebar switch connects the correct indicators to the relay. If one LH indicator flashing the fault is either with the wiring from flasher switch on handlebar, the bulb, the bulb holder or the common ( negative, ground, earth ) connection to the indicator that is not flashing. Maybe a corroded connector plug. As DJ123 says you can check if the centre connector of the bulb holder is connected, with ignition off by using continuity ( resistance ) check to centre button of rear left indicator bulb holder to centre button front left indicator, if the reading is more than a fraction of an ohm it looks like some corrosion in wiring. Checking voltage will help a bit, but if there is any resistance in wiring loom you will still get full voltage with no bulb inserted, but as soon as the load of the bulb is in circuit ( about 0.5 ohms for 21 watt bulb ) you will find very little voltage on the actual bulb, the voltage will be dropped at the highest resistance in the circuit. You can do a resistance check from outer metal part of bulb holder to a ground on the frame.

Re: Left rear indicator issue
Thanks for all the advice people. I'll check it out....
UPDATE: Now neither rear indicators are working and the front indicators flags like a bulb is gone. Hazards work on the front but not the rear |

Re: Left rear indicator issue
There is obviously dark magic afoot here.
Quickly, tie it to a stake and burn it. Make sure you pile the wood up high so it burns quick to limit the suffering. Or not if you prefer.

Re: Left rear indicator issue
Sounds like a connector problem, did you do the check by checking resistance of centre contact on front and rear lamp holders ?

Re: Left rear indicator issue
It does, if you do it in the middle of a field, preferably inside a stone circle.
And phone the Police to say it's been stolen.

Re: Left rear indicator issue
Good Luck, hopefully it's a quick fix. I hate electrical issues.
