Reg/Rec desperately needed!!
Basically same common problem as many people, I have a 99 sv650s which doesn't charge when I ride, I have been through a new battery which helped for about a month before leaving me stranded at work at 9pm.
I had the bikes electrics checked over about 3 months ago by a mechanic, and he said that all the problems pointed towards a duff REG/REC, I have been putting it off for a while due to money, as I got quoted 100 quid for a non genuine one to be fitted by the garage, so I have just been charging it every night without having too many problems, but last night at 12 when it wouldn't start really was the final straw. Soo, can anyone please direct me in the best way of obtaining a decent REG/REC, or if anyone has one spare for a 99 that would be perfect Thanks Alex |

Re: Reg/Rec desperately needed!!
have you tried wemoto, they are £90 new for a K3 model. SPec your bike on the site and see what they cost. Have you tried contacting companies for a part ex on a recon one as you can do with alternators?

Re: Reg/Rec desperately needed!!
the pointy ones dont plug straight in no the plugs are diffrent.
a lot of people upgrade the reg/rec to a honda cbr one they just put new connectors on both ends |

Re: Reg/Rec desperately needed!!
Ive heard that a lot of people use cbr units, but for an 18 year old with no real knowledge of bikes and especially electrics I just want to go down the easiest route, because I just need the bike back on the road reliably ASAP,
Is it easier to fit a pointy unit or a cbr unit?? Thanks Alex |

Re: Reg/Rec desperately needed!!
Hey Alex, if you are still after one drop me a PM. I have a spare one out of a 2003 (K2 curvy) that I think will be a direct fit.

Re: Reg/Rec desperately needed!!
Is it a one or two connector block reg rec you need? I think i have both, so shouldn't be an issue. Just let me know.
