Default Indicator Legalities

Here I am, still not got the bike but plotting and planning mods as we speak

One mod I like the look of is the one to move the front indicators off the stalks and mount them on the fairing.

I also like the look of some of the undertrays that have integrated LED indicators.

Are these legal?

Also do they affect the performance of the indicators at all - ie visibility by other road users,

Thanks

David

Do you mean use the 'sidelights' as indicators? I assume you do, in which case whilst it may look trick, it does make the indicators harder to see, particularly if you live and ride in town I would think very hard about that, you need to be seen.

There may be one available - but I haven't seen one - that is 'E' marked, no 'E' mark = not legal for use on the road.

Yes, they're not easy to see either, I have the same reservations as mentioned above.

The counterargument is that if you're depending on other roadusers seeing or paying heed to your indicators, you're on borrowed time anyway. But I don't hold with that, just because some will miss it doesn't mean they're a waste of time. No sense in making it any harder.

I could be wrong, but I think there's an undertray for the pointies that uses Ford Focus indicators, which'd be e-marked. But I can't remember which.

Can't remember the site, but you can get something that makes you're rear led unit flash one strip at a time as an indicator. Saw one a few months back. Looked nice, but I'm not sure how well the plod would take to it.

I think you are thinking of the Ermax one

Seems a LOT of money for not a lot of plastic/fibreglass.......

I liked that comment too, it's like the Mona Lisa- it ends up giving you a hard stare no matter where you move to avoid it "But it's really tasteful!" STARE

But it's such a shame.
Surely everyone, especially on here, have changed something!
You can't tell me that anyone seriously likes the Pointy's rear fender?
Is this what you adhere to Ian? has nothing on that SV1000 been changed?
I agree you have to draw a line, but to do nothing is the bigger crime IMHO.

P.S. thanks for the advice on front indicators side light swap, before I do it - can anyone suggest brighter orange sidelights I can use to flash as they are only 5W - possibly LED's any better?
And, especially for the front, I would be able to accept not relying on anyone seeing my indicators anyway - yes?

Is that because you feel you have one of the pieces of chavvy junk you'll see on this site that belong to the sorry majority of 'modded' bikes out there?
