Default Battery charger - which type?

My battery is always going flat over winter... so i generally borrow a charger and have 1 at home charged up ready. The charger i borrow is a halfords one with a motorbike setting.

Just looking to buy my own and was wondering if this one would be ok-
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165629

The man in the battery shop thought the voltage was too high on that and recommended a 30quid motorbike specific one... but on the back of the box for this charger there is a tick next to 12v motorbike.

little confused... so if anybody can recommend the best (cheapest) charger that they know is ok, that'd be great!

cheers!

Any which are made by Accumate, the two most popular and commonly available are Optimate and the Datatool version. Both are trickle chargers, you can leave then connected over a long period if you decide not to ride.

Lidl were/are selling a tronic trickle charger for £4.99

can be 2v / 6v or 12v

same as the more expensive ones you can leave connected for long periods of time and it will keep the battery topped up nicely.

has served me well so far bargain IMO.

i got the oxford oximiser - attached to the garage wall - it comes with the cables to attach to the battery and allow you to only take the pillion seat off to charge it, no messing with the main seat.

cost me £20 at George Whites outlet, they still have loads in stock.
