aka a hens tooth!
![]() I'll have a dig around see what I can see later (about to go out), but as a temporary measure, you might be able to bolt it - depends on what you've got left of the stub & if it's overly bent or not. I had to do similar when my gear lever snapped. You'll need roughly a 5-6mm HSS drill bit & a bolt roughly the same size (I think I used a 6mm bolt with a 5.5mm drill bit, not too sure). Also two nuts for the bolt (min). A little old garden hose pipe is useful too. As you're a mechanic, I'm sure you can figure out the rest. Basically, drill, hose on bolt, nut on bolt, bolt through hole, nut on other side, tighten. It should at least get you running until you can find a hen's tooth, and done properly it'll be nice & secure - my gear lever has been like that for a good 5-6k miles now. Of course, as it's a brake lever, there's nothing to stop you riding without the rear brake - but that depends on your experience on bikes as to if you're comfortable with it. EDIT: Yup, me on facebook, I did put that in the message. ![]() |
