once again, the svs to sv conversion...
Okay, so I've heard lots about NOT converting an svs to an sv, but if you WERE going to, what would I need???
My problem is that I'm from Canada, and they didn't release the naked bike until 05 so the only used sv's you can find are faired... And I'm all about the stripped down look. I have a mechanic buddy who'd do all the work for me, but I'm just wondering what I'm getting myself into... Basically, I've got that I'd need a headlight and new instrument cluster... I like the lower riding position so I wouldn't want to change the handlebars or anything (which I would hope kills the problems of having to switch out cluch lines, etc.). Basically, it's going to happen - I really want to get rid of the plastic... I just wanted to know what I need to watch for and if there's any good pointers out there.... |

The hardest part would be what do do with allthe wiring when you take the fairing off!!! I'm not 100% sure but I think the naked clocks will fit ok. I'm sure someone will come along who's done the same and point you in the right direction

I've tried to pick one up from the states, but for some reason, they don't seem that accomodating to the long distance buy... I've even gotten to where we have made the deal, I've gone to wire a deposit that day, and then they inform me that they've sold it locally.... it's been dumb. I'll keep looking, but I'm thinking I'll have to pic something up local.

Just as well, they have a habit of selling people machines and then invading them to get the stuff back...

First off, is it a curvy or pointy?
I've done this with a curvy. Wiring is a pain to hide as it's pretty bulky.Thinking back I should have got a naked loom, but then again I didn't intend to make it look like a standard SV naked anyway. Control cables will be a tight fit so for all they cost, get a naked set. Also (on a curvy at least) the clocks are not a straight swap. Not even close. HTH. |

pointy. I'm a big fan of angles.
