Reserve fuel tank specs
I am trying to gauge my fuel economy fairly precisely and am having a hard time tracking down the exact specifications for the fuel capacity when the reserve light starts to come on.
I have seen different values quoted through various forums. Some have quoted at 3.4 L (0.9 gal) left when the light comes on intermittently and 1.9 L (0.5 gal) when it stays on. This sounds around what I think mine has been but it's hard to tell since I don't necessarily fill up as soon as the light comes on. Can anyone confirm them? Re: Reserve fuel tank specs
The handbook says: at 4.0 liters the light flashes, at 1.5 liters the light stays on.

Re: Reserve fuel tank specs
OK thanks.
I just found my owners manual that I didn't realise I had. It has a slightly different part number than the one you quoted. My bike is a 2003 model so I assume yours is not. Anyway mine quotes 4.2L for the sake of other forum readers. Thanks for the follow up. |

Re: Reserve fuel tank specs
depends on the model. they all have different light flash settings.
my advice is dont risk it and fill up before the light comes on. |

Re: Reserve fuel tank specs
You can get a rough idea if you compare mileage reading when the light starts flashing vs mileage when you fill up. For example my last fill the light came on (flashing) at 204 miles, I filled up at 255 which took 15.46L. Based on those figures and assuming the journey and my riding was consistent, it means the reserve came on when I'd used around 12.5L.

Re: Reserve fuel tank specs
204 miles!!
Mine starts flashing between 135 and 150. But I don't tend to brim the tank. 160 and I'm getting worried. I tend to go on mileage rather than trust the light. I assume I'll be filling up every 150 miles-ish. |
