Yeah... I think when she said "More sporty" we both had very different things in mind... I was thinking clip-ons she was thinking "Keep the current appearance but different angle bars". I was going to spray her top yolk black to match the frame and the Gilles bars. I guess my preference for race-rep style bikes coloured my perspective.

It's clearer now what she actually meant was something like Jota bars. My concern with them was people saying they have to carry an Allen key everywhere because they loosen over time.

I'll test the Gilles when they get here, If she doesn't like them i'll send them back and get some much cheaper Jota bars.

-- edit --

Except looking now I can't actually find any chrome Jota bars in stock anywhere in the UK. I might just try and talk her into letting me fit the Gilles.

Well. Update for those interested. The Gilles bars are fitted, and she loves them (even before I've painted to top yoke to match).

Although I think the profile might be a bit too sporty for her now... The rearsets are in there farthest back position because the brake line isn't long enough to move them further forward. I think moving them forward and down a little with a slightly longer brake line and she'll be happy.

If not the bar's are adjustable also, so i'll move those up a bit.

Thanks everyone for their input!
