Default Stupid question: How do you know.....

Hey guys,

This might sound like a really stupid question, but how would you know if the bike you bought has a 33bhp restrictor on?

I bought and SV650S almost a month ago and was just curious. Don't get me wrong, it has loads of low down power, and on the way to work at 70mph, I can still feel it has a bit of "go" left and the revs are still quite low.

If it was restricted, how on earth would you know???

Cheers, Rick (yeah, a newbie!)

If it's been restricted all proper and official like it should come with the associated paperwork for it I believe.

It may be that it's got some kind of clever sounding mechanical problem the like of which I wouldn't now how to identify or cure.

Cool, cheers for that mate. It was sold to me by a policeman, and there was no restrictor paperwork with the bike. I was just curious.

The realy easy test is see what the top speed is, if it stops at about 115 then its restricted if it stops at around 125-130 then its full power.

Then dont worrey if its restricted. Usaly with restricted SVs you will feal the power tail off after 6-7k instead of 8-9k. Realy if you are not going to brake a ton then you will not realy be able to find out if its restricted, on an SV.

I was just worried that when I eventually sell the bike, I don't want to "not know" (if that makes sense?) about any restriction.
