Default Rip-off Travelodge Booking System

One would presume that when you pay cancellation insurance as part of your bill that you would get the money refunded---------No
I asked for the booking to be re-instated and told that as I had cancelled this was not possible.
I cancelled thinking that because I had paid the insurance my costs would be refunded and when told they couldn't be I said that I would have the room then but apparently because you cancel you forfeit the money.
A bit disgruntled to say the least------------------rant over

Don't just take that DT, send a snotty email to head office and threaten them with the papers.
Youve paid for that room, it's that simple.

*******s, hope you get your money back as things like this really boils my carrotts.

Sounds like false advertising to me.

I don't get that, so what did the cancellation insurance actually cover? I've stayed at a premierinn in Exeter because I had no choice and hated that, also £29 a night MY ****! Lenny Henry lies!
I'm in Penzance next Wednesday for a few days, plenty of nice hotels/guest houses there to choose from thankfully!

Sounds like a case of note reading the T&C to me. The insurance specifically says what will be covered and what won't, and one of the exclusions is you deciding you don't want to go...

We stay in Travelodges a lot as they allow pets in the room (for a charge), and at a couple we're even recognised by name and they save the same room for us

I've slept a lot of nights in hotels in my time, my current job the last two years it's calmed down a bit, but before that there's been years where I've spent more nights in a hotel bed than my own bed with my wife.

I point blank REFUSE to stay in a Travelodge, to the point that I'll tell my employer if that's the only hotel available, they'll need to move the date or location of the meeting/job, or do it without me.

The majority of Travelodge have been dirty, especially the bathrooms that get a quick wipe over with a cloth if your lucky, and a couple of occasions where the carpet weave has been so full of other peoples hair, dandruff, flakes of skin, that I've kept my socks on to go to bed for fear of a verruca or something similar. Bed is the only clean thing, because the sheet get changed every day, but I've often wondered what must be living in the mattress. Ask to change rooms, the replacement is just the same.

Decor is often old and shabby, TV's don't work or have a crap picture or half the channels missing.

I don't like getting cardboard box with a stale croissant and a little bottle of the cheapest made from concentrate orange juice for breakfast either.

Travelodge is a Motel, not a Hotel!

On budget hotels, +1 for Premier Travel Inn. Holiday Inn Express is good too. Both basic, and like any hotel (including the 4-5 star expensive ones) they can have their problems, but they are usually clean and quite recently decorated, and you get breakfast.

True, after reading some complaints about travel lodge, I'm not sure they would care either
