Knocking over bumps
When i leave work i have to drop down a curb. The front knocks a bit. im not sure if its the front mug guard or the clocks or what. Is there anything else that is could be or to look at?
Also you know that exhaust strap thats welded on? i pulled it off and can i just stick a jubalee clip on it or does it have to be a special exhust strap thingy? |

Re: Knocking over bumps
ignore it, as above its a quaint feature...only time you need to worry is when the knocking is in conjunction with the front end falling on itself, or the bikes desire to only do left or right hand corners...HTH

Re: Knocking over bumps
The knocking stopped for me when I fitted progressive fork springs and new (thicker, 10W) fork oil so I assume it's the front end bottoming out. As mentioned... it's a quirk of SV's.

Since suzy was fitted with progs and 15 w she is as smooth as a babys bum, only a large pothole makes her knock...however with the black Sv has linear springs and 15w, new headbearings and a new set of forks and it bottoms out over the slightest bump

Re: Knocking over bumps
Yeah be right, have used a couple of gas welding rods to hold one on before. I'd nip into a local engineering firm and see if they can weld the bracket back on for you though.
Get rid of standard can too, it weighs 3 tonnes.

Re: Knocking over bumps
does it really need to be welded on though? And does it need to be an exhaust strap as ive got a jubaliee clip here.
I would love a new exhaust but i would like leather jacket first. Also the rear subframe is quite rusty. Do you think i should replace it or just laeve it as? |

Re: Knocking over bumps
you don't need to replace it. Get it powdercoated. I just had 2 rears and a front done for £46. I was lucky i had YC rebuilding my bike so they were coming off anyway.
