Default Fork preload adjusters on a curvy?

At the weekend I saw an 02 plate Curvy that had fork preload adjusters on it. I asked the owner about these and he said they were on when he got the bike (second hand).

Did the 02 model have preload adjusters as standard or were these retro-fit?

Do the Pointy adjusters fit on a curvy? Has anyone done this?

Cheers,
Carl

Yes the K2 model had pre-load adjusters fitted as standard. These can be retro-fitted to previous year models. They cost around £50 for genuine suzuki ones. JHS racing also did some that were cheaper.

Try a search, loads of folks done it.

One thing, if you want to get some you need to know the part number(s) since the Suzuki parts fiche only lists the individual parts. If you buy the parts individually, it's over £100!!

Ahh knew I'd find the details. See this post from when I did it earlier this year.

It's Plowsie just trying to confuse peeps, LP.

I got my adjusters from a Suzy dealer. You have to get the solid washers to sit on top of the springs too. Think they cost in all around 45 quid.

It's not a great mod tbh... You tend to use them once to set your sag then after that they might as well not be adjustable- so, you could do the same with an hour's work, some PVC tube and a pipecutter or hacksaw for a fraction as much.

Thanks for all the info.

Actually Plowsie, I adjust my rear preload so often it's getting ridiculous. I have two different weight pillions and ride on my own too. I'm also planning a bit of touring. The lighter pillion takes three clicks of rear preload, the heavier takes 4 (max. But could do with 5) and for touring I'd be looking at 2.

I do have a front preload "system" in the form of internal 6mm washers but its a fiddle to keep changing them as often as I am.

It's also surprising how much rear preload affects the curvy with the uprated forks. Knock it up two clicks too far and it's an absolute pig to ride. Even one click too much makes it a pain. Getting it just right makes the bike superb.

Not noticed it as much on my previous bikes (all 40 odd of them )

Cheers,
Carl

Well, fair enough, if you do a load of pillion riding it could be worthwhile- have to admit, I'd overlooked that.
