If memory serves, the K3 has only a 1 stage light (no 2nd, more urgent bit later on) so this is probably all the warning you're going to get.

Personally I'd fill up, you know a full tank is about 17L, you'll then see how close to empty you were, or pop a fuel can on the back

The 2nd stage light on the curvy leaves you with ~1.5L, which riding in town gives you about 15 miles. I'd be very surprised if the light gave you less notice than that, you should be fine.

Edit: I'd guess it's the 1st stage light you get so closer to 3L, but I've never measured reserve on a K3 so mine's guesswork

If you're on a K3 you don't have a 2nd stage. You'll get your 5 miles to the petrol station. I get 20+ miles on my K3 after the light comes on. Just don't go mad with the right hand!

If this help the light on my k3 comes on at around 100 miles. If I fil up straight away I can just squeeze 14lts in it.

I can get about 20miles on my K9 in top gear on the motorway at 50-60mph, soon after the light starts blinking, after which it goes solid. Then I start panicking!
