Default My RGV 250 Rebuild

Thought I would post some pics of my little project:

What it looked like when I picked it up. 4000 miles. Registered in 1995. It had been stood in a farmers garage for the last 5 years in a giant vacuum bag. (The sort you use your hoover to suck air out of). Someone told me he wanted rid while I was at Sherburn, so I paid him a visit with cash in hand and he accepted my offer. I rode it home and it goes like sh!t through a goose. I decided to rebuild it after reading posts o nthe RGV forum.

Here's the wheels back from the engineering firm who had to drill out every caliper bolt.

Actual mileage 5076 at the time of the strip down.

Very nice! I would love an RGV to re-build but i seem to be wanting to do too much without the mullah!

How far you going with the rebuild?

£400 worth of billet power valves. Anyone who has had an RGV knows why these are soooooo important.

More bits to fit.

Plastics off to go the S****horpe to be sprayed up in the Lucky Strike Kevin Swantz Race Rep.

Wheels back from the powder coaters.

Essential for labelling every part - Chinese takeaway cartons

Every part is being powder coated. First bits back from Triple S in Bingley.

Fork Rebuild with Hagon Prgressives. They are a bit better than the Sh1tty SV forks.

Before anyone asks the scooter has been sold lol.

Homemade fork tool, made from a meat skewer.

Wheel with new EBC prolite discs and new bearings and new tyres.

Then disaster. My 2 year old son taking his John Deere tractor for a spin rams into the bike and knocks it off the abba stand, casuing a great big scratch on the frame when it fell.

Looks like the frame is getting powder coated as well now.

Minutes before disaster.

To date. I haven't touched the bike since April as I have been pre-occupied with the SV and a new baby.

All the plastics are back in the full lucky strike scheme and they look amazing. I have hid them in the loft away from tractor boy.

I paid £1800 for the bike, and so far I have spent well in excess of £3000 on parts and powder coating etc. Every nut bolt etc is being replaced.

I am putting off the next bit because it is an the engine drop. I have all the bits to rebuild the engine such as pistons, new heads, billet power valves. Trouble is finding time now!
