Re: gsxr k6/7 forks
I believe the forks will fit, but you'll lose the ability to lock your stearing with the ignition - if you compare the top yoke of a K4/5 to a K6/7 you'll see that the location of the ignition changes - and that's why.

Re: gsxr k6/7 forks
The stem size is different so i'm not sure they would swap over that easily. Perhaps if you changed the top and bottom yokes and stem then it could work. Not sure though, i'm only assuming the K6/7 forks are the same size as the older ones. If they are i can't see why not.

Re: gsxr k6/7 forks
I think if they're just fork legs, then they're pretty much the same as the K4/5 units - excepting that the caliper mounts account for 320mm discs instead of the 300mm discs on the K4/5.
So you're going to have to get top and bottom yokes anyway - ideally from a K4/5. If you can't manage that, then Rictus has discussed with me, the possibility of transfering your stem from your old yokes, to the new ones - but you need to take this to someone who has the specialist pressing equipment. For what it's worth, I have a spare top yoke from a K4/5 Gixer 600/750. Would want about ?30 for it.

Re: gsxr k6/7 forks
The K6 forks got a couple of minor changes which make them harder to fit with older parts- one of the spindle holes is smaller which broke about 8 years of compataibility (though you can probably use hte K6 axle in some yokes) and the bottom yoke is 53mm instead of 54mm so you need a shim. It's not brain surgery mind, but the K4/K5 is simpler
(but, not available in the sexy black with the DLC fork sliders)

discs are 310mm on K6/7. there is way to keep locking option by swapping lower triple or stem/upper between them.both gen have same offset. |
