Default New SV rider - Fuel question

Hi all

I've just got a SV650S It's a '99 T, blue and I love it - fantastic fun. Although not so much with the ice everywhere at the moment.
Sounds amazing with the Art can on it as well.

Just hoping I can get some inside info from the SV owners here about owning and living with an SV.

What kind of mileage can I expect from a tank? An about how much have I got left when the fuel light comes on?

Thanks, and looking forward to joining the SV rideouts

Firstly... welcome to the Forum!

Curvies (99-02) are different from Pointies (03-). However, you should probably expect something in the range of 100-140 miles before the light comes on I think.

I'm sure a curvy owner will correct me

The Curvy tanks are 16 litres, while the Pointies are 17. Ultimately what mileage you get will depend entirely on your riding style, and the kind of journies you do!

aye u p fresh al, and welcome to the tribe.

how much milleage from a tank?

sherman or challenger.... :P :P :P

all depends how you ride really , frapp it constantly and youll only see about 100, ride like my mum and you might see 14-140

i find i get the best millage when i keep the front wheel in the air, less friction and all that.............

Welcome.

If you ride very conservatively, you can get 200+ from a tank. I used to get this regularly when I used to commute 100 miles a day. However, I have got down to the late 90's as well.

In general, it is about 130 before the light comes on, 150ish before you really should think about filling up. The flashing light goes solid and you have got less than 10 miles in the tank. Never tempted to go far if the light has been solid though.
