That's the way I look at things. I've just picked up a new-to-me car, having been looking for a few months for the right one. Missed out on a couple, but then found a peach (nothing particularly exciting for most folk, Honda Jazz, but a perfect example with 1500mls on the clock).

Weren't some bikes of that era fitted with a power limiter in (some) lower gears?

I have had two Jazz, now have a Civic. The Jazz is a fine car, much more adaptable and larger inside than many realise ( and with magic seats LOL )

The reliability of Jazz is legendary - as with pretty much all Honda Stuff

My wife is on her third Jazz - now has a MK2 1.4 Si..

They definitely have different things going on with the ecu allowing less to happen at lower gears.

Bit odd it's just in first. If it was an air line issue or fueling problem it's usually at certain revs rather than just in one gear. Many modern bikes can be snatchy and lumpy in first and even second, especially with the speeds and lower revs they're usually used at in those gears. I've had a few that have been terrible around town because of it.

Wondering if it has a exhaust servo issue. The straight through pipes on it do set alarm bells ringing regarding air flow and fuelling.

It's potentaily sold anyway, although if that falls through he'll get back to me. Shame as it wasfailry local and I tried to go see it straight away but he was busy. Now he's waiting on someone to collect from a distance away.
