Default Curvy speedo accuracy.

Hey all, I have a 99 curvy 'S' and have just completed a track day, a bit of technical info ... totally standard engine, Delkevic end can and link pipe. So ... no mods at all to the engine.
I was just wondering what other peeps have squeezed out of their curvy 'S' ... flat out n tucked in with virtually zero mods as mine, as my indicated speedo reading was 134mph! No idea how accurate the speedo is but I did think it was 'optimistic', having said that ... it does pull really strong in all gears, no flat spots or hesitation at all right up to the red line. It still has standard gearing too so nothing has changed there either. I weight 12.5 stone so it doesn't have much to haul around!
Is it possible it can reach that speed or do these speedos lie like cheap chinese watches?

I think just over 120mph is about as much as you’re likely to get. The speedos on curvys do tend to read a tad optimistically.

Mine reads 100 at a speed of 97 according to sat nav. I've seen just over 125 on a track but you need a hell of a long straight to get there before you have to brake

That's closer than I'd have thought. My pointy speedo used to read 8% fast compared to GPS. The Gen 3 speedo isn't far off, however - about 3% fast.

I too have seen 134 (but on a pointy), it;s got an aftermarket speedo mech though - I'd guess 120-125

Sidenote isn't it an analogue speedo on a curvy? I've not idea how you read those things over 100mph. I remember doing 150mph (not an SV) on the Isle of Man and by the time my eyes had focussed on the bouncing needle I'd gone from one end of the island to the other and off a cliff.

Not sure if it's analogue tbh, as when I had an electrical issue a while back, the needle used to 'sweep' occasionally like some cars do prior to starting.
So I'm inclined to believe it's a digital jobbie but reads as an analogue, plus ... it doesn't jump around at all like an old type cable speedo.
Shame really... I was hoping I had the fastest standard curvy ever made! Haha.

Analogue electronic. I've been looking at it for 20 years so all I need is a glance!
