not THAT weird surely unless you've never heard of an RGV250 ?

A 7 cylinder diesel motorcycle would be weird

Yes, I read elsewhere about the Langen and with very fond memories of my RD350LC, it momentarily piqued my interest right up untill I got to the predictably ridiculous price tag

Only weird because makers are reluctant to invest in 2 strokes as they cannot easily meet emissions regs, KTM have been doing work on port injected 2 strokes https://www.popularmechanics.com/car...injection-tpi/

Ok, I realise that from the perspective of 2020, multicylinder two strokes with a V configuration) are not exactly thick on the ground, but for a moment there I thought perhaps you were genuinely unaware of the RGV (or for that matter the RD500, which I have just remembered was a V4).

My problem is when I think about motorcycles, I tend to do it with a bit of a "nineties filter" as that's when I did most of my motorcycling (in the good old days before scamera vans or SUV driving ***holes trying vaguely to keep in lane while updating their facebook status).

It doesn't really help bring me up to date hanging out on a SV forum .

Anyway thanks for the KTM link I'll have a read of that. I can remember reading at least 20 years ago about how direct injection two strokes were going to sort out the emissions issues (still emission regs have obviously got a lot tighter since then ).

At one time the Australian 'orbital' 2 stroke was the dogs dangly bits and looked promising - it seemed to be an 'air assisted fuel injected system' - was this their name for port injection that KTM later got interested in ? The orbital engines could not meet emissions regs for road vehicles, but apparently still used in mining industry and looks like some aircraft / drones, where the light weight would be an advantage.

Husqvarna still sell a rather cool-looking 300cc single-cylinder 2-stroke enduro, with 44bhp: https://www.dirtrider.com/story/test...untry%20models.

Yeah, Husqvarna brand owned by KTM, so will be a KTM engine, or at least use the same tech.
