There's going to be a line forming for this one
![]() Personally I reckon (serious answer) they're totally different bikes, it doesn't make a lot of sense to compare them just because they look so similiar. The SV's probably got more in common riding-wise with the Firestorm, if you ask me. I think that's one of the reasons the SV thou never really took off, anyone who wanted a more powerful SV was surprised when it wasn't, while other people turned their noses up at it because they think it's just a more powerful SV ![]() So, best bet is to treat it as a new prospect and test ride one, if you can. A lot of dealers will fall over themselves to shift a thou, they don't sell, and as a 650 rider you're a plausible upgrade...

Correct. They share nothing of any significance.

yep just the looks, they are different animals. 650 is a fun bike and the 1000 is a motorway tourer mile muncher.

Well, my take is the 650 is a class leader whereas the 1000 isn't.

the sv1000 has got the sp2, rsv and the 1098 for company its never going to be a better bike than them 3 but it is a good BUDGET big v twin which can be had for peanuts, i never got on with mine because of the handling, it seems big and heavy with slow steering but then again its the first bike ive owned which i got my knee down on
![]() its a good bike in its own right as long as you dont ask too much of it. |
