BUT.........

At the beginning of chapter 7 - Brakes, wheels and tyres, it also has a list of torque settings......

Rear wheel axle nut
X, Y, K1 and K2 models ............65 Nm
K3, K4 and K5 models ............100 Nm

I don't know why one is called rear axle nut, and one is rear wheel axle nut, but it looks like they have made a mistake in chapter 1 by not specifying the different models. I wish they would make a manual for the curvy and one for the pointy to avoid confusion.
That must be what I found in mine....its actually pretty dangerous, you could quite happily follow the figures in chapter 1 and think you had done it correctly. A difference of 35Nm is alot of error though.

I would hope that you would notice pretty quickly if it came loose though.

I noticed this error in the haynes manual too. Had me confused for a while but the k3 owner's manual says 100nm

DarrenSV650S is right re the error in the Haynes manual. Chapter 1, page 2 under Servcing Specs has 65Nm for both models but it should read: 65Nm up to 02, 100Nm 03 on.

the torque setting for the rear nut is tight

before nyloc nuts people used castellated nuts which required you to either tighten it more or slacken it off to get the R clip on. i think that the US bikes are still the same. personally i think 100nm is way to tight.
