Cutting out when clutch pulled in
Sometimes, mainly in the morning the machine will cut out when i pull in the clutch? its started happening since i put my open can on, i know its been commented on before but i couldnt find thread, it only happens when my clutch is in and A: i blip the throttle B: i hold the clutch in for about 7 secs ( roughly ). i thought it might also be a tempreture thing but it happend at about 68 degrees before
i have to do a rolling start when it does it, scary stuff. any help would be great, |

Re: Cutting out when clutch pulled in
I know next to nothing about bike mechanics but surely it's the idle speed that needs upping a tiny bit. Have you tried that?

one thing i did think was could my new open can cause my revs to drop lower than idle when i blip the throttle or pull the clutch in??? Last edited by John 675; 16-05-07 at 02:55 PM. |

Re: Cutting out when clutch pulled in
The auto choke would be on after starting up though right? That raises the revs. I don't know why but it sounds like the can has affected the idle speed.
My old 125 would idle fine when stopping but cut out after a few seconds of sitting still. Raising the idle speed by like 200rpm sorted it right out. I've no idea how FI bikes will work in that respect though. My K3 occasionally cuts out when blipping or pulling in the clutch before it's fully up to temp too and that's still on a standard can. |

The last time it did this I got out of the car park, a short way up the road to the traffic lights, and bingo. At least the lights were on red. When I say now & again I mean maybe 1 out of 50ish starts in the cold. Clutch & side stand switches OK? |

Re: Cutting out when clutch pulled in
I checked and they seem fine, it really seems to be a rev issue, because like i said if i blip the throttle the needle drops really low then comes back up to idle speed, about 1500. RPM
