Default Curvy Exhaust - which flavour of stainless is it?

I've taken the exhaust off my 2000 curvy today with the intention of refitting it properly. The can is therefore well and truly open, and there is no chance I'll get all the wriggly things back in.
Here are the problems:

Whoever fitted the Viper can has cut too much off the original pipe - so that was leaking.

I think as a result of the above, the whole pipe has been badly stressed and the front downpipe has cracked where it joins the Y section.

I have enough offcuts of stainless pipe lying around the place to be able to braze it back together with various repair sections - hence the question. I don't want to make it worse by using the wrong flux / rod.

Or - shall I buy one from a breaker and fit that?

Or - shall I just chuck it all in the scrap bin and buy a complete new one. Clearly thats not my preferred option on financial grounds.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thats fair - here are some pictures.

Terminal or not?

When I said cracked I meant properly cracked.

Here's a shot of the link pipe so you can see how little there is to go inside it:

And here's the bit that would connect to the front header pipe - if it weren't in such a mess:

Cheers.

I’d say that is beyond sensible repair. I think finding a good used original system would be the way to go - I should think £60-£80 would be a good target price.

This looks perfectly serviceable and would clean up with an hour’s work:

... I think that would work out cheaper in the long term than a repair.

As per other poster I wouldn't bother trying to save it.It's never going to be a robust repair.

I think you're both right.
Does anyone know if a later exhaust will fit a curvy - obviously with a blanking plug for the lambda?
For obvious reasons I'd prefer a younger one.

Thanks again.

There might be something on here,

https://www.partshark.co.uk/motorbik...zuki/sv%2B650/

Put exhaust in the Search box and...

There are a few Motorcycle breakers on-line so keep searching.

Did you mean would a pointy exhaust fit a curvy? I don’t know the answer for sure, but at first sight I’d say I doubt it.

Someone much more knowledgeable than me will correct me if I’m not right.

I think pointy to curvey is fine. Think the other way round won't work because of the oil cooler space at first glance.

I'm sure others might chime in.

Which option did you decide on?
