Default 2000 curvy sv650s valve issues

Hello, I have a 2000 Suzuki Sv650s it is currently fitted with a 47hp restrictor kit and delkevic stainless twin end can exhaust system with the baffles out, I have diagnosed a valve sealing issue on the front cylinder causing low compression, I have the engine out the frame and currently preparing to lap the valves if they don’t require grinding and the valve seats recutting.

The questions are,
is there anything I should be doing as preventative measures/upgrades whilst the engine is on the bench?
Where is the best place to buy engine parts from in the the uk?

Any tips that people have gained from working on these engines previously will be greatly appreciated as will answer my question.

Thanks for reading regards Liam

Well as the engine is out...

What's your budget? And what's your mechanical appetite?

So first suggestion is a cam swap, that's using a combination of the injection and original cams, plenty of threads on here to give you the step by step. After that thinner head gaskets, take the middle layer out for increase compression. While you have the engine out and are willing to play around pop the clutch cover and replace the gear shift cam with one from a later model for a more positive gear change and less chance of hitting a false neutral.

There is a lot more that you can do depending on the size of your wallet, but apart from all the usual service items that I'd be doing at the same time that would be my starting point.

As for what, why, and prevention on the valve sealing issue I can't offer you any advice there.
