Exclamation Help PLEASE

Hi guys

I’m stuck at a wall and don’t know what to do
My sv is only doing 100Mph max and I’m really sure it’s restricted, spoke to the bloke I bought it off and have no papers about it. I took the ecu out and it’s says

17GA1
Mgt121

Does anyone know from the ecu numbers would it be restricted?
Iv had a look at the throttle and can’t find anything.

Any help would be much appreciated thank you

5th or 6th ?? If it's 5th you've got another gear

If it's red lining at 100mph I'd suggest looking towards gearing. As a new owner I'm not expert on the SV so I won't even try and offer advice regarding mechanical or electronic restrictions

Hopefully someone will be along shortly, it's a very helpful and knowledgable group

Standard gearing on an SV is something like 15t front, 44 or 45t rear depending on model.

I run a 14t front sprocket and mine hits the rev limiter at 121mph in top according to the logger, so if yours is in the red at 100 it must have a huge rear sprocket... which on the bright side should be easy to spot! It's a also a cheap fix providing you can shorten a chain.....

Obviously all speeds mentioned above have only been done on a private racetrack. Honest officer.

100mph is still 30mph over max legal speed on public roads in UK.

If it was restricted it would not get to red line, so as others have said must be gearing. Acceleration will not be as good if you fit larger front or smaller rear sprocket to higher the gearing, so depends what your priorities are.

My 2016 AL7 has a standard primary reduction ratio of 71 / 34 and final ration of 46 / 15 - it is a naked bike and for obvious reasons faired bikes will normally have higher final gearing - no way I fancy being on a naked over 100 anyway, but I like the extra acceleration and tractability at normal UK speeds ( especially country roads and in traffic ).
